Key benefits of Yoga Express

The Yoga Express sequence is specifically designed to provide the benefits of a 90-minute yoga class but in less time. Based upon the Ashtanga Yoga tradition, Yoga Express invites the student to explore and increase the strength and flexibility within their own bodies through a series of postures and athletic movements.

“Yoga saved my career.”Ryan Giggs

How Yoga compares to other fitness regimes

Each exercise regime has its own benefits, however, Yoga Express (and it’s parent Ashtanga Yoga)  is the only activity to develop equal amounts of strength and flexibility. The prevalent misconception is that yoga is only about flexibility and little else. While this is true with some forms of yoga, Yoga Express involves the synchronisation of breath with movement, static stretches and weight-bearing postures, which give Yoga Express a gymnastic, cardiovascular quality.

Similarly to gymnasts, regular practitioners undoubtedly see the development of a powerful athletic physique that is supported by a balanced mind. Click here to watch a short demo from Yoga Express teacher Matt Ryan demonstrating flexibility and strength in full effect.

While any form of exercise is better than none, Yoga Express has a unique ability to improve us physically (muscular), physiologically (our internal functioning) and mentally (wellbeing and mind).

How it works

Using the spine as the central axis from which all movements have their origin, a yoga sequence is designed to stimulate the nervous system to encourage healthy and balanced functioning. Located within the spinal column and brain, the central nervous system (CNS) is responsible for a whole range of activities from perception and understanding, to heart rate, digestion, and movement.

Integrating a regular yoga practice into your routine will result in a physical, physiological, and mental transformation that other fitness regimes are unable to provide in isolation. The growing popularity of yoga among athletes like Andy Murray is testament to its ability work with a variety of disciplines to improve performance while providing a challenging and fulfilling practice.
